A South African primary teacher has been suspended after being accused of racially segregating black and white children.
A picture of the pupils, aged four and five, apparently separated according to their skin colour, was shared with parents to show how they were settling in.
Police were called to Laerskool Schweizer-Reneke, a primary school in North West province, yesterday when a protest over the incident threatened to spill over into violence. One white father urged black parents to enrol their children at a school in a township if they were unhappy.
