A British pilot killed when his small aircraft crashed into a Spanish mountain has been named as the former brother-in-law of Paul Hollywood, the celebrity baker.
Simon Moores, 62, brother of Hollywood’s ex-wife, Alexandra, was flying a Piper plane from Cascais in southern Portugal towards San Sebastian airport in northern Spain. It came down in misty conditions on Wednesday around the 1,075m (3,500ft) Hernio mountain near Errezil in the Basque Country.
The alarm was raised when a local resident heard an explosion. Despite the foggy conditions, a search operation was launched with a helicopter, firefighters and volunteers.
