A ten-year-old boy being treated for malnutrition in a hospital near the front lines of the war in Yemen, whose plight was highlighted by The Times this week, has died.
Adam, weighed 10kg — 22lbs— was being treated in the Al-Thawra hospital for a brain condition and malnutrition when a Unicef team visited last week.
Juliette Touma, a Unicef spokeswoman, said that she could hear the bombs falling outside as she visited him “emaciated and in pain, lying in bed crying without tears” last Thursday. When she tried to return on Friday, she was told she could not reach the hospital because the fighting had encroached even further.
