A CNN reporter has had his White House credentials suspended after a heated exchange with President Trump during a press conference.
The president’s official spokeswoman said that Jim Acosta’s accreditation was withdrawn because he “placed his hands” on a young intern who tried to take the microphone from him when he refused to sit down.
Acosta, CNN’s chief White House correspondent, accused Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the press secretary, of lying.
During the press conference Mr Trump told the journalist that he was a “rude, terrible person” after he asked whether, during the midterm elections campaign, the president had “demonised” migrants heading to the US by calling it an “invasion”.
Later Acosta said that he had been denied access to the White House.
